Afterschool Program Manager will oversee the overall day-to-day operations of the afterschool program at a designated JaxPAL location. This position will supervise and monitor staff and youth in the following areas: education, safety, enrichment and recreation activities, environment and structure. The individual will partner with the Director of Education to decide the scope of program activities each academic year. In this position the individual will evaluate work performance, conduct reviews and conduct counseling sessions and train part-time staff, recruit volunteers and parents to assist with program activities and events. In addition, the Program Manager will ensure the program is aligned with the mission of JaxPAL, the Kids Hope Alliance and grantees.

REPORTS TO: Director of Education
HOURS: Monday – Friday, 9:30 a.m. – 6:30 p.m. (Must be flexible to work any shift including weekends)

Essential duties and responsibilities

Responsible for the overall safety of youth and staff. Ensure there are no observable safety hazards in the program space/facility. Supervise and evaluate job performance of direct staff. Conduct quarterly and annual reviews with direct staff. Ensure staff adheres to company policies and procedures outlined in Employee Handbook, and counsels staff for infractions. Develop SMART goals and objectives with staff that support the JaxPAL mission and grantee guidelines. Monitor work hours’/review staff payroll hours for accuracy; submit timesheets to Human Resources/Payroll Division by required date and time. Monitor/approve youth instructor and teacher lesson plan to ensure programs goals and objectives are being met. Prepare necessary incident/accident reports and submit them to Director of Education for review. Submit Attendance Sign In sheets and Meal Count sheets to Admin Manager daily. Submit Student/Employee of the Month along with photo the 3rd Monday of each month. Submit monthly Site Calendar the 3rd Monday of each month. Submit Weekly Info Report each Friday. Recruit new and returning students to meet required enrollment and average daily attendance as outlined in the program contract. Ensure that all participant files are updated, secured and include required documents as outlined by the Kids Hope Alliance and JaxPAL. Conduct disciplinary consultations with student participants and parents as needed. Establish and maintain positive working relationships with Duval County Public Schools, Community Partners, staff, students and parents. Conduct and document monthly fire drills. Coordinate and schedule educational and enrichment activities for the program. Coordinate and maintain pick-up schedules for bus and van routes to area schools for participants. Plan and execute special events, enrichment activities and community events. Prepare monthly program activity reports, accurately input participant information and monthly attendance activity into (SAMIS) designated tracking system. Communicate and relate to children and parents in a positive manner. Ensure nutritional meals are served to students daily during program hours. Meet all required standards as required in the Kids Hope Alliance or grantee contract and monitoring evaluation. Ensure day-to-day operations meet all state and local regulations. Follow all policies and procedures of JaxPAL as outlined in the Employee Handbook. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Ability to effectively supervise employees. • Demonstrate leadership skills. • Ability to work with little supervision utilizing time management skills. • Ability to coordinate multiple projects and meet required deadlines. • Ability to secure confidential information responsibly. • Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills. • Ability to effectively plan and implement activities and events that promote a healthy learning environment for youth. • Demonstrate proficient computer skills in all Microsoft applications. • Must have a valid Florida Driver’s license demonstrating a positive driving record for the purpose of transporting youth. • Must complete a minimum of 20 hours of Youth Development and or Leadership training annually. • Must obtain and maintain a valid certification in CPR/First Aid within 90 days of hire. • Must pass drug screening and a Level II criminal background check.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in related field from an accredited institution or equivalent work experience. • Supervisory and management experience. • Minimum 2 years’ experience working with youth development programs.

Salary/Salary Range

$45,000- $49,000 Annually
